Purpose. The purpose of this operating manual is to regulate the organization and operation of the journal Cirugía y Cirujanos.
Definitions. For the purposes of this operating manual, the following terms shall have the meanings set forth below:
- Mexican Academy of Surgery
- Publisher: Publicaciones Permanyer
- Journal: Cirugía y Cirujanos.
General Terms
- These provisions are binding on all persons involved in the operation of the Journal, including authors and peer reviewers.
- The Academy owns the Journal, the corresponding trademark rights, and the copyrights.
- During the term of the agreement between the Academy and the Publisher, the latter holds the full and exclusive rights to publish the Journal.
- The trademark rights and copyrights owned by the Academy must be acknowledged in a caption by the Publisher responsible for publishing the Journal; likewise, it must be stated that it is an official publication of the Academy.
- The Journal is published online quarterly, with articles in Spanish and/or English.
- The content of the Journal will be available via open access to the scientific community, at no cost to authors.
- Associate Editors will be appointed by the Editors-in-Chief.
- Members of the Journal’s Editorial Board will be selected based on their experience and standing within the scientific discipline, their knowledge of the subject matter, and consideration of the current or anticipated geographic scope of the journal’s scientific discipline.
Composition
- The journal’s staff consists of 1 Editor-in-Chief, 4 Associate Editors, a social media manager, and the editorial board.
- The Editor-in-Chief must have experience in the publishing field and will be responsible for implementing best editorial practices in the peer review and scientific editing of submitted manuscripts. Additionally, the Editor-in-Chief will oversee the efficiency and responsiveness of editorial processes, identify risks, and implement improvement plans.
- Associate Editors must have editorial experience. Their role is to support the Editor-in-Chief in all their duties, evaluate submitted manuscripts related to their subject area, and perform any other assigned tasks.
- Members of the Editorial Board may remain in their positions indefinitely based on their participation in the journal’s processes. Their work includes providing an inclusive editorial perspective, promoting and attracting new authors, reviewing studies related to their subject area, suggesting initiatives, and contributing as authors.
