The journal Cirugía y Cirujanos is the scientific publication of the Mexican Academy of Surgery, an institution founded in 1933 that serves as an advisory body to the federal government on health and social policy matters and as an advisor to the General Health Council of Mexico. Its membership comprises more than 400 distinguished professionals from 64 medical and surgical specialties, as well as professionals in health-related fields, which has contributed to giving substance, structure, doctrine, mission, vision, and prestige to Mexican surgery and medicine in the international context.
Cirugía y Cirujanos is a leading voice in academic, scientific, medical, surgical, and technological development in the field of health in Mexico and internationally. It is a bimonthly, open-access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original scientific articles, clinical cases, review articles of general interest, and letters to the editor in Spanish and English (translated at no cost to the authors). Articles are selected and published following a rigorous review process, in accordance with internationally accepted standards. The journal is open to academics as well as any member of the medical community who expresses interest in using this forum to publish their work.
